Recursive Words

The life and times of a work-from-home software and web developer as he fights a house, four women, two cats, idiocy, apathy and procrastination on an almost daily basis.

Down the rabbit hole

The Commodore 64 arrived at lunchtime. It’s now wired up to an old CRT monitor, and after some tinkering, I connected it to a re-creation of the ARPANET system you last saw in the movie “War Games”.

I can’t quite describe the feeling of sitting in the dark of the junk room while a glowing, blinking cursor stuttered it’s way across the screen, typing the following question:

Would you like to play a game?

I’m not sure if I’m enthralled, excited, or terrified.

What if it’s not a simulation? What if the WOPR is real?

I wonder if Ally Sheedy will come past in the morning?
